I visited St. Augustine's Palm Sunday 2017 (yesterday) and was very pleased with the liturgy (Rite II, well executed), the music, and the quality of the fellowship following Holy Communion. Very intelligent and welcoming people. I also attended an interment of a recently deceased member in their garden/colombarium. I am very impressed by the communal nature of the rite for interment, and in fact, I am very impressed by the church, its clergy, and its members. I plan to go back next Sunday, or in the near future.
Nice church and people.
Love the preschool! Can't say enough good things about it. My son loves going to school and the teachers are fantastic.
I decided to put my son in the 2 year old program here in the beginning of the school year. I thought it would be a great school because my mom belongs to the church there. Right from the start on the very first day we did not have a good experience. My son was potty trained fully for 2 months and the first day I picked him up I walked in and immediately smelled poo well when I picked my son up I realized it was all in his pants. No body realized. I thought maybe it was just because it was his first day, he was nervous, and they had a lot going on. Well as the time went on it just kept getting worse. He would come home every day saying his teachers were mean. Which wasn’t even a word he had used before so I started getting concerned. As the weeks went on he kept regressing and started having accidents every single day, but only at school. I had to go pick him up from school twice because he ran out of clothes. The teacher Jeflyn, was not nice at all. She proceeded to tell me that he needed to be put in pull ups, even though I was upset that he regressed I agreed. I was very understanding in the beginning. But then even AFTER I brought pull ups he was still having to be changed out his clothes because they were either soaked or had poo on them. At this point I was confused on how this was still happening with a pull up on. They told me it was because he was having diarrhea so I was going to keep him home because I would not send my child to school if he was having diarrhea, multiple at that. But two days later he had none, so I sent him. It happened again, clothes got soiled. That’s when I decided to go to the Director, Joline. She proceeded to assume that my son was never potty trained. She also said that my son was still crying every day at school and “still adjusting”. But I was never told that my son was crying. They were telling me he was having good days, so as far as I was concerned everything was fine with his behavior aside from having accidents. So the next day I talked to Jeflyn and asked if my son was crying. She said in the most disgusting way “Yes, and he has bad anxiety too.” No mother wants to here that, but I am very open minded so I asked if it was something I should mention to his pediatrician. She said no, so we left it alone. After all this happened I just decided to pull him out of the school. I luckily found a school shortly after. The first week he had NO accidents at his new school. His behavior drastically changed. He never said his new teacher was mean. But the priest of the church still wanted to have a meeting to discuss what went wrong. I agreed of course, because I myself wanted to try to better understand what happened. Well, it did not go anywhere. The teachers, Jeflyn and Kasie, were so unprofessional and insensitive. In the beginning of the school year at the Open House Jeflyn had said she would give all the parents her number and if we were ever concerned we could text her or message her on this app called “remind”. She said she would ALWAYS respond. She said it may take her an hour or so but she would always respond to let you know how your child is doing. I had messaged her on remind asking how my son was doing, and she never responded that day. I mentioned it in the meeting and she lied to my face that she doesn’t check her phone during the day. On remind it says “read” when you have seen a message I could see that she had received the message and actually read it. But she said she did not recall. Not only that, during the meeting when I was expressing my concerns about what happened with my child while crying, Jeflyn AND Kasie were snickering as if it were a joke. My feelings were hurt that someone could even laugh at such a serious matter about MY child. I am so thankful I found a new school for him. He is like a new kid, his behavior has changed drastically. And he still till this day, has had NO accidents at his new school. Instead of coming home saying his teachers are mean he tells me how much fun he has!
I don't attend this church, but they have a great pumpkin patch open to the public on their property every October featuring a wide variety of normal and unusual gourds and Halloween accessories.
