Small store with decent selection and most employees are helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the attitude I got when making a return recently will send me elsewhere. I'll do what I should have done and drive way out of my way to go to Baldwin Taylor.
I like that as soon as I come in the door there is someone there to help me. You can wander for hours in Home Depot and there is no one there to help you. I have had no trouble with any of the employees.
OVERPRICED!!! Went to basils ace hardware in metairie to get a few pieces of glass cut. Didn't ask the price first because I assumed everywhere would be about the same price. Well I was proved wrong. I had just purchased a few pieces from a different hardware store uptown a day prior which I assumed if anything they would've been more expensive than anyone. That wasn't the case, bassils ace hardware was 4x the price for the exact same thing. The other store was right at $2 per piece of glass cut and everything out the door, where basil's ace was $9 per piece of the exact same glass. Not only were they way more expensive, the cuts were terrible, jagged, and so not square that I couldn't even use them. Which lead me hang to go to lowes where I got 3 larger than I needed pieces of glass and a glass cutting tool and cut the sizes I needed myself, keep in mind I've never done this before and was able to cut it better at home myself with a measuring tape n a $4 glass cutter. I asked about the price when I was checking out and was told " for real?, I'd love to know where they get their glass." Lowe's also about $2.40 for their much larger uncut glass , had lowes glass cutter been operable that would have been no extra charge. Try to do the right thing by go to a local store but won't make that mistake again, not going to pay 4x as much especially when they can't even do the job properly, and I can do it better myself for cheaper anywhere els.
