This place is not a fine jewelry store, it's a really sleazy pawn store. You walk in to a tiny, dirty store filled to the brim with Mardi Gras coins and lots of costume jewelry. Although the owner claimed he had estate jewelry over the phone, when we got there he only had two rings and they did not appear to be estate pieces, especially considering the prices ($395 each for diamond and white gold rings??). Although he claimed that they got everything wholesale and were thus able to sell for so cheap, the guy is obviously selling stolen or fake jewelry or both. Avoid this place at all cost, unless you're looking for Mardi Gras coins.
I am a repeat customer at Chris's and have found some of the best buys ever there. He carries jewelry of many types and will tell you all you need to know about what you are considering. Some pieces are CZ's, but you will be told this. I have found this to be a very fun and money saving place to shop. I WILL CONTINUE TO SHOP THERE AND HAVE RECOMMENDED IT TO ALL MY FRIENDS.
I just recently bought a custom made engagement ring from Chris’ Fine Jewelry and couldn’t be happier with the finished product. The ring looks fantastic and is better than anything I was seeing in the stores like Jared’s and others. Not to mention, Chris can get you diamonds at a fraction that you would pay at a big store.
The ring is much nicer than anything we saw in the stores and again, for a much cheaper price. If you go talk to Chris about what you are looking for and tell him your budget, he will get you the best bang for your buck. I thought I was going to have to settle on a ring/diamond much smaller and worse quality because of my price range but Chris did his thing and found me a fantastic diamond and made the perfect ring.
I heard about the negative review below on Mr. Chris' jewelry shop yesterday and wanted to voice my own opinion. I was referred to Mr. Chris a year ago by a good friend who often uses him to fix her high end jewelry. I had an issue with a ring I bought at Ramsey's and she said he was the most honest jeweler she had ever met. I met with him and he went out of his way to help me when no one else in the city would. He took his time and went over every detail with me. I found him to be extremely honest and trustworthy. While waiting he showed me some of the jewelery in his counter...and he was very honest which pieces were real and which weren't. His prices were unbelievable. I also learned that while he doesn't always have high end, expensive pieces in his shop, he is acquainted with many wholesalers and can get and create any creation you want. Sure wish I had known this before I spent $16,000 at Ramsey's!!! Remember...those glitzy, fancy stores have glitzy, fancy prices. Personally, I'd rather spend my money on a nice piece of jewelry, rather than the overhead for a pretty store to shop in. Mr. Chris has made me a customer for life and I will continue to refer friends to him.
What a neat little place...it will always be special to me because this is where my husband and I found my engagement ring. 2 Kids later I still love looking at it...my daughter says it's the "Daddy loves me ring"...every year for Christmas my husband asks me what I want and I say...go to Chris' and get me something special...and I always LOVE it! I also sent a friend of mine there for a rare Spider ring because I know she collects anything with spiders and I remembered seeing it because it was so beautiful...2 years later I saw her in the store and she actually mentioned how excited she was to have found it and the place!
Honestly, there isn’t a single thing I would change about this ring and my fiancé and all her friends agree. They all can’t stop raving about it and think I spent a lot more money than I actually did. Bottom line: If you want the perfect ring for your fiancé and want to get the most for your money, avoid the “big name” stores like the plague and go see Chris. I will be going to him for every piece of jewelry I need.
The other stores have their nice display set up and show you what they have but don’t let that steer you in their direction. The prices are much higher and you can’t tweak the ring beyond minor details. My fiancé and I found the style ring she liked and gave a picture of it to Chris. I would say he created an exact replica of what we gave him, but that would be a lie. The geometry of the ring Chris made for us was even better and prettier, not to mention the white gold was whiter and the diamonds we’re shinier than the original we found.
