And then it began, two hours of moving here and there, a dog and pony show, running me and my pet from room to room, and then the grand finale, after an hour and half they finally took the X-rays. And then a "Vet" not an orthopedic, came in to tell me what my Vet told me four hours before, and what I told them when I called, and what I told them when I walked in. When asked, the doctor who told me that she was not the board certified orthopedic I thought I was going to see, she was a vet, "Where's the orthopedic?" She said I am sorry but you have to make an appointment at a later date, this is emergency room service. I said I asked on the phone before I came here if you had board certified orthopedics to see patients? They said yes, bring your dog in. She apologized, gave me some doggie aspirin, said he didn't need surgery right away but probably would, and sent me to the front desk where they handed me a bill for $680.00. She told me they would have a radiologist review the X-rays later and call me, but no surprise, no one ever called. When I left, I asked them to email me my X-rays, they said they would, but they didn't.

They didn't call me Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to ask how Deuce was doing, to discuss the X-rays, or to say they emailed the X-rays as requested. After discussing the situation with my regular Vet I called Wednesday to get them to email the X-rays. They put me on hold and then came back and said we will put them on a disc for you so you can come pick them up. Bad service, bad follow up, and if they mislead you on front end, they don't follow through on what is discussed, what's going to happen if you let them operate on your dog? Seems to me that they were only interested in getting paid for a diagnosis that I already had gotten from my own Vet. Some people call that plagiarism and misleading.

To say I am not happy, would be an understatement. I give them a one star for answering my call. My dog Deuce, a 130pd Ridgeback, injured his leg and was limping so I brought him to my Vet who did an exam. My vet said that the dog did a partial or full tear of his knee ligament and said we needed to do X-rays to be sure. They said they would have to sedate him, but still recommended an orthopedic look at the leg. He recommended MedVet and another smaller company so I picked the big operation and called their office to ask if they had board certified orthopedics to see my pet. I explained my issues, what the Vet said, and said I needed to see an orthopedic as soon as possible. They said come in we are open 24/7 and have doctors ready to see you. I said great so I brought Deuce in around 300pm. When I got there, it looked like a great professional office, great lobby, but later I found out that the place had all the trappings of a big operation with big overhead. After a short greeting, they handed me a clipboard with papers to fill out showing I could pay for what was getting ready to happen to me and my pet. They told me to have a seat and wait for a "doctor".

Our vet on the West Bank told us to take our Vet to LSU ICU and she was there for a day and a half but showed no improvement. I didn’t like it that I never spoke to a fully trained doctor, only a Med student and a resident who I felt was very blunt. At that point she was only getting IV fluids and diuretics so I asked our Vet if it would be reasonable to bring her closer to home. She arranged transfer to MedVet where she’s taken her own dogs. Our dog was 13 years old with chronic kidney disease for the past two years and we lost her anyway. However, every single person I interacted with from Dr. Parente to the residents, techs, and cashiers treated us with compassion and were much more aggressive than at LSU. My husband is a physician and I have a medical background and we had our own suggestions which Dr. Parente took seriously and implemented what he thought was reasonable. Our dog hadn’t really eaten for over a week and I suggested giving her some nutrition because I thought if she was fighting to get better she needed calories for the energy to do that. Dr. Parente started this right away. LSU never did. Initially they said it was because they were doing an ultrasound of her abdomen the next day but ne er did after that.

They saved our cat's life. He had a laparotomy for an intestinal obstruction. Skilled surgeons and great staff.

Even though we lost out girl, I will be forever grateful for the excellent care and compassion we received at MedVet right through when she was euthanized and they gave us as much time as we wanted to be with her and hold her before, during, and after the process.

The most lovable cat I've ever had, Ursula, was in terrible shape when I came home from an extended vacation. MedVet was there when she required critical care, and they respected my wishes regarding further treatment. Ursula is alive and very well today because of the care she received at this wonderful practice. Thank you!

Everyone was very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. They were concerned about both me and my pet. Best of all you can call any time, day or night, to check on your pet. The vet also calls at least once daily to keep you informed of any changes.
